SF Urban Trail Runners Saturday Run @ 9:00 am
The mission of the Sutro Stewards is to create urban recreational opportunities while practicing sustainable habitat conservation through stewardship. The Mount Sutro Open Space Reserve, located in the geographic center of San Francisco, was overlooked by surrounding communities for a century. In the last decade, the true value of the open space was revealed through the Sutro Stewards’ creation of multi-use trails, allowing the public to explore this exceptional place. Since 2006, the stewards have mobilized volunteers to build trails, remove invasive species, and grow and install native plants. For active outdoors types, the reserve is a city treasure, with 5.1 miles of trails and the work continues, as we build an important connector and future segment of the Bay Area Ridge Trail (with a trailhead on Clarendon Ave.). Whether you prefer to work on trails or maintain habitat, come on out, join a great group of folks and let's get some work done. After, there's beer/soft drinks and pizza and a wonderful chance to catch up with new and old friends. Meet at 9:00AM at the Woods (parking) Lot, up behind UCSF, just off Medical Center Way, about half way up the hill toward the Aldea Housing. Look for the shipping container in the parking lot. In addition to signing up here, please go to sutrostewards.org and register on the website. Thank you!! Mike PS. We meet on 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 9:00. But there is an amazing variety of other events, such as bird walks, flower walks, guest speakers, plant sales, etc. on the website!!
